Vice-President of Sales and Marketing
Dana Conover is the Vice President of Sales and Market Development at Akron Ascent Innovations. Prior to joining AAI, he worked as the Director of Innovation and New Product Development for Elmer’s Products in Westerville, OH. He previously led new business, marketing, and product development efforts at different companies, including Decoart, Monogram International, and Crayola. Throughout his career, Dana has consistently worked to validate and introduce breakthrough technologies.
While at Elmer’s, Dana was the lead contact engaged with the University of Akron group that would go to found Akron Ascent Innovations. He was among the first people interviewed to validate the concept of a nanofiber-based dry adhesive, and he provided ongoing support and encouragement after the company was founded. This assistance culminated in a letter of support that helped AAI secure the National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II award in 2015.
After 3 years of support and encouragement for the nascent start-up company, Dana joined the company as a consultant in early 2016. By the middle of the year, Dana was officially hired brought onboard as Director of Product Development as part of the Technology Enhancement for Commercial Partnerships (TECP) supplemental award to the SBIR Phase II program. In June 2017.
Dana received a Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from Wichita State, worked as Adjunct Professor at Southwestern College, and is a Certified Practitioner in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM). He is a frequent guest speaker at local colleges on open innovation and the merits of university-industry collaboration in today’s industrial climate.
