Bounce Innovation Hub Grand Opening and Open House

On May 22, 2019, the Bounce Innovation Hub celebrates the Grand Opening and Open House of their first floor, dubbed the Generator. The facility, which officially transitioned from the Akron Global Business Accelerator (AGBA) to the Bounce Innovation Hub in January 2018, has been the home of Akron Ascent Innovations since August 2015. Originally a tire factory for B.F. Goodrich, the first tire manufacturer in Akron, the building has been re-purposed into a nexus of start-up activity in Downtown Akron. The event aims to showcase the newly renovated first-floor and allow the community to network and participate in a wide variety of activities. AAI’s new Pinless product line, featuring ShearGrip nanofiber dry adhesive technology, will be prominently featured throughout the 8th floor hallway.

The Generator is the newly transformed 27,000 square foot first floor of the Bounce Innovation Hub. They offer office and event space, a makerspace, an e-sports lab, and a coffee house and café. Bounce’s mission is to attract entrepreneurs to the area by creating a space that encourages new ideas and collaboration. In their new space they also paid close attention to the design and décor. In a release, Bounce states, “It is a modern, industrial space that captures the spirit of Akron’s past and present, designed and accented with locally made materials, artwork, furniture and furnishings.” Open house festivities begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and continue throughout the day with the main celebration between 4 and 8 p.m. Visitors can tour the new facility for free and see the over 50 startups that call the Bounce Hub home. A full schedule of events is available on the Bounce Innovation Hub website.

About Akron Ascent Innovations

AAI is a start-up company based in Akron, OH that has developed a revolutionary new type of ultra-low tack, removable adhesives material made from nanofibers. This new class of materials can achieve a strong, but easily removable, bond between surfaces through nanoscale interactions. This approach to adhesion was inspired by nature and is widely used in the animal kingdom, including beetles, spiders, and geckos.  AAI’s platform approach to dry adhesion can be used for a range of applications, ranging from temporary signage, home décor, wall hanging hooks, and picture frame tabs, to automotive assembly, packaging, smart clothing, electronics handling, and closures.
