Akron, OH (6/1/2017) -- Akron Ascent Innovations, LLC (AAI) announced today that Dana Conover, long-time collaborator and current Director of Product Development at AAI, has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Market Development. Dr. Barry Rosenbaum, CEO and President of AAI, said, "Dana has been a part of our story since the very beginning. While he was Elmer's, he was the first champion of our technology. We did our diligence and interviewed a number of great outside candidates for the role, but none had the right fit and right experience."

As Director of Innovations and New Product Development at Elmer’s Products, Dana was in the first cohort of industry insiders interviewed by AAI to identify the potential product-market fit of dry adhesives in the adhesive space. After years of providing guidance and support, Dana began working with AAI as a market development consultant in late 2015. By early 2016, Dana officially joined the team as the Director of Product Development. On his new role, Dana said, "AAI has an amazing new technology and is filled with brilliant people geared to develop a material. The missing piece has been to turn that material into a product that people could really connect to. I am thrilled to have been selected to fill this gap."

Dr. Kevin White, Chief Operating Officer and Principal Scientist of AAI, said, “Dana has been and continues to be a huge asset of AAI. In 2017, we figured out how to make some amazing products and in 2018, we will be bringing those to market. Dana has years of experience in retail and craft markets and is the right guy to lead our launch.”

Dana previously led new business, product development, and marketing efforts at several companies in the discount mass and hobby markets, including Decoart, Monogram International, and Crayola. Dana is a bonified Shocker, with a Bachelors and Masters of Business Administration from Wichita State University. He worked as an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern College and received a certificate as a Certified Practitioner in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society. He is a frequent guest speaker at local colleges on open innovation and the merits of university-industry collaboration in today’s industrial climate.
